A Day As A Fashion Production Intern

Hello Lovelies,

I love my internship. I am a production intern for Preloved an eco brand that uses vintage and recycled clothing to create fun and free looks for women (and some men :D).

Today I just wanted to post a little bit about what I do in a day. I’ve had a lot of friends and family ask me what goes on and I figured I would turn it into a post. Enjoy.

6:00a.m. I hate my alarm! It’s a horrible thing. I have a fitbit so my alarm is a nagging vibration on my arm that I can’t really ignore.

6:30a.m. I don’t think I could do anything without my makeup. I’ve gotten so used to applying it, even if it’s just a little bit of foundation and mascara.

7:00a.m. we should be out the door by own but today I was bit behind (started my makeup late) 😦

7:20a.m. On the road. Highway 401 on a Monday morning is probably the worst thing in world to deal with….well highway 401 with snow is worse but it’s Monday so everything always feels horrible.

8:00 a.m. Public transit. There is a family car but unfortunately intern days are the only time I don’t use it…boo.

8:30 a.m. I’m always in pretty early when I take public transit. It’s okay though cause it gives me a bit of time to do homework….or blog.  😀

9:30 a.m. Today we started a bit late. Everyone rolled in and had a few things to clean up and sort out before the work begun. I started my date but doing some product alterations. Some of the S/S 16 tops had the wrong tags on it. Ripping top labels….not glamorous but these are the things that come with the job.

11:00 a.m. We’re off to the rag houses. The production team is responsible for all the things that come after the design team has sketched, re-sketched, measured, altered and just about everything else they have to do. When the design team says we need vintage Hawaiian tops, we go and get Hawaiian tops.

11:30 a.m. Rag house #1 – Ever wonder where all the unsold, good quality hand-me-downs go? Well rag houses are their shelter. When charity shops and thrift stores can’t hold anymore product they send their remaining product to rag houses. Everything is sorted and resold to companies like ours so we can make them into really awesome outfits.

1:00 p.m. Rag house #2 – Gotta love picking through bags of clothes.

3:00 p.m. Two rag houses, 6 bags of shirts and one bail of sweaters later we are back at the office. Thank god we actually managed to stop for lunch, we were both starved.

3:30 p.m. Winter clean up. Production team does our best to keep everything neat and tidy and ready to be shipped out to the stores and customers. With S/S 16 being delivered to us soon we had to double time the clean up.

5:00 p.m. Day is done. I usually wait around for a little bit while my boyfriend makes his way back to pick me up.

I was so happy to find out that one of the S/S 16 tops is named after little ole’ ME! I felt so loved.

That’s All Folks. Day is done. Until Friday 😀

Feel free to keep up with my crazy intern antics, OOTD, makeup looks and college life by following me on Snapchat (don’t worry I follow back) 😀 IMG_7745

Here’s all the snaps from my intern day. Added a bit of music to make it a bit more fun.

XoXo ❤
