As Simple As a Pair of Boots?

It’s October

Inner Monologue:

Time to shoe shop!
No shopping!
You need a proper pair of winter boots.

I’ve had this argument with myself about 5 times in the last two weeks. Something as simple as thinking about getting a pair of winter boots has become a dilemma. I really do need a pair of winter boots. I live in Ontario, Canada, it’s a mandatory piece of equipment.

My last pair of winter boots are a complete right off. Example: The zipper is completely caked with road salt. I can’t unzip my shoes.

I suppose I’m writing this because I want someone to tell me it’s okay to spend money on winter boots when you need them. I really believe in this challenege

No shopping for a year. That’s not so bad

But what happens when you actually need to buy something?

Have you ever asked yourself…

How much time do you spend thinking about which pair of shoes you’re going to wear in a day?
How many pairs of shoes, boots, sandals, heels, flats or slippers do you own?
Do you remember where all these purchases were made?
Do you know where and who made them?

None of these thoughts used to run through my mind when it came to the stylish covers I put on after cute (mismatched) socks. Lately it seems to be all I can think about. The idea of purchasing a pair of shoes that was created by someone who probably can’t afford to have a pair, made me ill and then sad.

Goal: I must find a pair of ethical and sustainable winter boots.

If I am going to buy a pair of winter boots this year I am actually going to take the time research.

Any ideas?
